The Gozo Channel established since 1979, is the main sea transport system for travelling between the islands of Malta and Gozo. The company operates with three ro-ro vessels named M.V. Gaudos, M.V. Malita and M.V.A Ta' Pinu, which were built at the Malta Shipbuilding in the year 2000 and completed in 2002. Shaker was entrusted with the fabrication of the utility rooms of the three vessels. This included wall-cladding, lavatory units, vanity units including the sensor mixers. DuPont™ Corian® Strawberry Ice, Mint Ice and Blueberry Ice were used for the vanity units and DuPont™ Corian® Sagebrush was used for the wall-cladding.
The utility rooms of the three vessels presented individual and different floor plans. The Shaker design and fabrication team, needed to develop unique vanity units for every room, which had to be fabricated depending on the specific space available.
Each unit has access panels integrated into the design, which allows access for plumbing. DuPont™ Corian® material properties offer design flexibility, this gave us the ability to fabricate the vanity units in different shapes, curves, edges and also allowed the seamless integration of DuPont™ Corian® Glacier White sinks. Shaker also supplied the sensor taps for all the units.
DuPont™ Corian® wall-cladding can be easily cleaned, providing a hygienic space. These partitions include plumbing access panels and integrated side bars which facilitate usage.
Shaker fabricated the wall-cladding and also provided the sensor flushing systems. Both material and fixtures maintain a hygienic space.
The nappy changer is found within a DuPont™ Corian® structure. DuPont™ Corian® being 100% non-porous can be wiped clean from germs and bacteria, it is the ideal material for such applications.
