Shaker was entrusted with the fabrication of various projects within the db San Antonio Hotel + Spa an all-inclusive, newly refurbished Moorish style hotel, situated in Qawra. It is one of the largest hotels in Malta with over 500 rooms and suites, a variety of restaurants, bars, fitness and spa facilities and outdoor pools overlooking the picturesque St. Paul’s Bay.

Shaker handled the fabrication of the reception counter, over 400 vanity units and various restaurants, which included bar counters and buffet counters. The restuarants serviced include:

Guéliz Restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with live-cooking stations in buffet style.
Tagine Restaurant serving Indian and Moroccan cuisine in buffet style.
d Bistro Restaurant serving pizza, pasta, salads and grills.
Q-Zins Restaurant serving themed dinners with live-cooking stations in buffet style.
Yushan Restaurant serving Asian cuisine with live-cooking stations in buffet style.
Kosy Bar is the main entertainment bar for cocktails, spirits, drinks and coffees.
Café Maroc serving hot and cold beverages.
Multi-functional Hall used for corporate events and functions such as weddings and other gatherings.

DuPont™ Corian® was applied throughout the project due to the material durability. Solid surface was thermoformed and shaped using CNC cutting, it was also combined to other materials such as wood, stone veneer, decor panels and metal. The result was beautiful state of the art interior, which offers durable, easy to clean surfaces.

The Lobby

The reception counter is designed in a modern Moorish style by Martin Xuereb and Associates and fabricated in collaboration with Eurocraft. The project features an integration of three materials. DuPont™ Corian®, Stone Veneer and CNC cut black metal. DuPont™ Corian® was thermoformed to obtain a perfect curve, which acts as an attraction as soon as your step into the hotel.

Vanity Units

The vanity units found in the guest rooms are designed by Martin Xuereb and Associates. Shaker fabricated over 400 freestanding vanity units, which include an integrated top-mounted basin. The square design acts as storage space for towels.

Café Maroc

Just opposite the lobby tourists can unwind at the Café Maroc, before heading out or after a day exploring the island. The bar fabricated by Shaker and designed by Martin Xuereb and Associates, is made from DuPont™ Corian® with integrated stone veneer and CNC cut metal matching the reception counter. Next to the bar one finds the gelateria counter, which is fabricated with the same materials and includes a glass structure acting as a display counter.

Guéliz Restaurant

Shaker fabricated over 40 meters of buffet counters, designed by Martin Xuereb and Associates. This project involved fabricating the buffet counter wooden cabinets, which included integrated CNC cut metal and the DuPont™ Corian® surface. DuPont™ Corian® withstands heat when fabricated according to the required specifications, attention was given to the specifications of the individual food display stainless steel fittings. Shaker as a member of the DuPont™ Corian® Quality Network and our expertise with such projects, ensured that material specifications are met. The delivery of these counters involved a lot of care, attention and preparation. Each counter was carefully packed, to make sure no damages occur during the trip across the island.
